Soundoff

Can someone take down the giant that is Apple?  Not likely, but they're trying.

Best Weekend Ever

This weekend makes me more giddy than Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly putting bunk beds together.  If you live inside a hole or are a doctor and don't get cell service in your world, Wisconsin sports is presently peaking.  Russell Wilson has a date with Nebraska at 7pm Saturday; 6 hours after the Brewers take on the Dbacks at Miller Park.  After the jump, find some awesome hoopla leading up the events.

159/162

While the Red Sox continue to throw away their Wild Card spot and the Brewers look to gain home field advantage, ESPN is playing a documentary called "catching hell."  It looks back on two memorable moments of non-composure in the MLB:

Bill Buckner's Infamous Five Hole Miss

Steve Bartman Steals The Game From Alou

The documentary is very interesting; talks about how the Red Sox had about 5 different mistakes leading up to Buckner's miss, but no one remembers these moments.  Also, the documentary focuses on the many "curses" the Red Sox and Cubs have gone through, and many happenings are eerily witch like.  Check out the documentary on ESPN.  Hopefully the crew can find some magic of it's own this postseason, but in a positive light.

Wisconsin Worship Week Begins

This Saturday, the Badgers play one of those games.  In college football, one game basically decides your season, and that game for Bucky comes against Big Ten newcomer, Nebraska.  I really don't know much about the state of Nebraska, and I doubt I'll learn anything about them this week leading up to the game.  But it surely has all of the feelings of a real barn burner.  Exhibit A  More on the big game after the jump.

Steve Brule, MD

Just remembered this guy, if you thought he was only a great #2 racer in Talladega Nights, you were wrong.

Random List of the Day

Food encompasses our lives.  We as Wisconsinites are surrounded by food, and none of it is healthy.  With that said, here is a list of my three favorite food experiences in the last year or so.

3. Maxie's Souther Comfort - Wauwatosa, WI - Barbecue to the T.  I had the ribs, and the seasonings are very hard to explain, as they hit your taste buds from every angle.  The jalapeno enriched muffins are a great way to start your meal, and their drink selection is a great way to set the mood.
2. Eddie Martini's - Wauwatosa, WI - A great steak is a wonderful thing, especially when spent with a great group of people.  I had a disgustingly well cooked steak made with a bleu cheese crust, and it was the best steak I've ever had.  The waiter probably helped my opinion, as he would not rest until we were absolutely comfortable and happy with our meal.
1. Diner Grill - Chicago, IL - I have never been to this small diner before 3:30am, and I couldn't tell you if they are even open before that.  They serve a "Slinger," better known as a hangover remover.  Nestled upon a plate of thinly cut hash browns, two cheeseburgers hold up two freshly cooked sunny side up eggs, which lay a great, supportive platform to dump as much chili as can fit onto your plate.  My friends and I have made this a  tradition each time we visit the Windy City, and no one leaves until 8 pieces of white bread has been used to clean off your plate.  Well worth the trip, you'll remember this stop!

All 2 food groups!

Free Gift Ideas

SNL is such a wonderful show; it pushes the HBO boundaries without the sticker price.  Here are a few of my favorite SNL moments.

Will Ferrell is an absolute beast when it comes to my favorite type of movie, rotten and blatant comedy.  Will teaches a USC lineman how to play the position, with some odd techniques - *from Funny or Die, not SNL.

Justin Timberlake is not only a great singer, but this SNL clip with Bill Hader is legit - >  link

Illinois Smells

Though I have no real problems with the state of Illinois (except for the fact that I never have change when trying to pass through their tollways), I've always known something was a bit fishy there.  This article now reaffirms my earlier postulations. I used to catch monster carp with my Grandpa using only canned corn, and they are nothing that should be eaten by a normal human.

Wildin' Out
This article immediately caught my eye on Grantland today.  I was a previous owner of said Charlotte Hornets starter jacket in 6th grade, and I wore that beauty until a zipper was all that remained.  I think the Hornets need to switch back to those awesome jerseys asap.  But we don't have to worry about the Hornets, as the entire NBA is playing in either Europe, China, or is an extra on "Basketball Wives."

Leon Lett strikes again

When a man who rarely ever scores or does anything worth keeping track of actually gets his chance, awkward things happen.  I have provided the Leon Lett version 1 and L.L V2, along with Michael Boley's updated version from Peyton's brothers game tonight.

Fantasy Football Funk

"Listen to your vehicle's signals"
While Wisconsin was whooping NIU on a neutral college's field, I and a few friends were calling tow trucks to get a new battery and alternator, after out truck shut off going 60 on I-94 (aftermath above).  To make matters worse, my Sunday was filled hating my fantasy football team. My fantasy team had all the makings of a major money maker, but as usual, the wheels are falling off.  My Arian Foster horse-powered Ferrari was traded in for an Amish buggy in less than two weeks.  Arian Foster is hurt, Brandon Lloyd is hurt, Matt Ryan's defense keeps him off the field too long, Matt Stafford won't throw touchdowns to Pettigrew because Calvin Johnson is ball hogging every pass in the red zone, but at least my bench is ripping it up every week.  More complaining after the jump.

Daily OXygen Supply

If this T. Rangers fan can field better than Prince Fielder while talking to his investment broker on why his children's college fund is down the drain due to the Nasdaq, maybe talking and driving should be legal?

Very cool site; like a pop up book online without the virus-inducing scams - pun

Great year to live in Wisconsin for sports fans.  Link

Kevin Hart is amazing..

Shameless Warrior Plug

If you haven't seen the movie "Warrior" yet, you need to make it a priority.  The most legit sports movie I've seen since "The Big Green," Warrior captures the audience with each dramatic scene.  I thought it was going to be a movie about two guys duking it out to see who is the better fighter, and the winner gets the girl.  Turns out, that is exactly what happens, but the end goal is money, and there is a lot to learn about the main characters between the new Footloose trailer, and the end credits.  I went from yelling at the screen as an adrenaline junkie, to staring at the ceiling doing multiplication tables as Nick Nolte brought me to the brink of tears.  I'm an insanely composed and tough guy, so you know this movies good.  Check it out, in theaters now.  Also, you get to see the aforementionoed "Footloose" trailer, but sadly, I didn't see any Kevin Bacon cameos...just yet.   Also, the leading lady, Julianne Hough, looks to be not just a country music star, but quite a(n) dancer actress.
